What to expect from the weather

Regularly reaching 23°C and falling to an average 14°C at night – the Algarve at this time of year offers ideal weather conditions if you’re feeling sporty or an urge for outdoor activity.

The sea temperature in April is normally 15/16 °C but warms rapidly to reach 17/18 °C by May.

If you’re not a fan of sea swimming there are some beautifully secluded rivers and waterfalls for a freshwater dip – during this season they’re particularly lively, having been treated to rainfall earlier in the year.

Reasons to book a getaway

If you fancy a little pre-summer preparation, we highly recommend a quick flight to Faro for a some TLC in Portugal’s sunniest region.

Get sun-tanned or in shape, or enjoy the normal holiday pastimes; beach wanders, lounging by the pool, delicious dining on Portuguese ‘cozinha’ (cuisine) and sampling the fabulous local wines and spirits.

The landscape’s richly green and colour blooms all around, creating a feeling of renewal and energy, which can be quite contagious.
